Combed

Combed cashmere and/or cashmere/silk yarns are fine yarns generally with a fineness of 2/48 (24000 m in 1 kg of yarn) or finer.

They are made from long natural fibre, generally over 40 mm and a very low micron, in comb spinning. Where, unlike carded spinning, a ribbon called Tops is made which is combed to discard the shorter fibre.

The yield is very different from carded yarns. Garments made with worsted yarns are much lighter, soft and have almost no hair. And having only long fiber they almost do not pill.

Fine combed yarns are worked on knitting machines with a gauge of 14-16-18 or finer, and can be worked in two plies on a machine with a gauge of 12.

It can also be worked by hand on multiple ends, but my personal advice is that it is only worked by expert people, who already know how to work very fine yarns and worsted yarns by hand.
