Cablé yarn (from the French câblé, meaning "hollowed out," "woven like a cable") is a type of yarn made of multiple threads twisted together in a special way, giving it a compact, regular, and highly resistant structure.
Here's how it works in detail 👇
A cablé yarn is obtained by twisting together multiple already twisted threads (i.e., second-degree twists).
First, single threads are created (for example, two or three strands twisted together);
Then these twisted threads are in turn twisted together in the opposite direction.
➡️ This double twisting process gives the yarn exceptional stability, luster, and compactness.
Appearance: Slightly shiny.
Strength: Very high — it does not fray easily and does not lose its shape.
Elasticity: Limited compared to carded yarns, but guarantees a more precise and clean appearance.
Stability: does not roll up or twist while working (knitting or crocheting).
