What is recycled Cashmere

by Jan 20, 2024Cashmere Recycled

Recycled Cashmere is obtained by recycling cashmere fiber. It is a pure cashmere yarn with low environmental impact, made entirely from high quality recycled cashmere.

We only use leftovers and remnants of spinning cashmere and especially old recycled cashmere knits, which would otherwise end up in a landfill or incinerated.

This offers many advantages, of which the three main ones are: 1- The quality is the same as yarns made with cashmere staple so as to maintain the softness, softness and best quality of the yarn itself and of the garments that are made. 2- The price of the yarn is significantly lower while maintaining the best characteristics, reducing production costs and the use of raw materials 3- Throwing unused fiber into the waste is avoided, to the detriment of environmental pollution. It therefore preserves the environment by reducing the amount of waste produced 4- It supports local industry and encourages creativity and innovation 5- Materials have a longer life 6- (but no less important) consumption is significantly reduced: 90% less water consumption, 80% less electricity consumption, 95% less carbon dioxide consumption

According to the Environmental Protection Agency, approximately 12.4 million tons of textile products were reclaimed in 2013. It is estimated, for example, that the average American throws away 68 pounds of clothing every year. Recycled fashion means reducing the amount of waste associated with protecting the environment and saving CO2 and water.

Cashmere fibers, clothes that are thrown away every year are still usable and in excellent condition. This is why we manually select the best of them and after sorting by quality and colors we recycle them with a special technique.

Our yarns are 100% recycled cashmere, we do not use staple fiber for these yarns. Some yarns such as the buttoned ones are 90% recycled cashmere 10% silk of which the silk is the buttons, some are recycled cashmere and lurex, some with sequins, however the cashmere we use is ALL recycled.

Here at the bottom of this page you can find the link to our advice for processing and washing cashmere.

And as I always say: I recommend you always take a sample and wash it before proceeding with the final work.

The raw materials we use to make our ecocashmere yarns come from a GRS certified company, which carries out sample laboratory analyzes on many of the batches that are produced and the results obtained rarely fall below the 98% pure cashmere.
