The Waxing of Yarns
Paraffin (also called “wax”) is applied during the winding of the yarns and allows greater slippage of the yarn during knitting machine processing and therefore makes the yarn easier to work and avoids breakages so as not to compromise the success of the stain removal.
After 20 days from delivery, the paraffin begins to decay resulting in a worsening of the flowability of the yarn. After this period the yarn must be subjected to new waxing. The re-refining operation through new winding requires special machinery and particular attention. It is recommended to re-refine the yarn at low speed immediately before knitting.
It is recommended to NEVER work packages of repaired or re-spooled yarn together with original packages.
