Can knitting yarns be worked on a loom?
Carded cashmere and cashmere blend yarns work well as weft on the loom. It becomes a bit more complicated for the warp, where the tension is so great that many carded cashmere yarns, due to their delicate structure, are too weak to work with and break.
Often, it depends not only on the type of yarn but also on the tension and the type of loom.
Many of our customers use worsted yarns for the warp or thick carded yarns, or double them up to increase strength. For the weft, generally all carded yarns work well on any loom.
Below, I'll show you an example of a project made on a loom with our yarns. The blanket you see below, with a white and light beige herringbone pattern, is even made with our recycled cashmere yarns, for both weft and warp on a hand loom.
