What are the knitwear fashion trends for 2024-25?

I did some research to find out what will be fashionable in 2024-25. Of course, I focused on knitwear. In the 2024-25 season, Oversize and Relaxed Fit sweaters will be in vogue. Vintage and retro inspiration (70s and 80s) will continue to influence fashion. This is good news for those who don't have much experience in knitting or crocheting, because this type of pattern is very easy to create. It is practically based on geometric shapes; mainly squares and rectangles. Nothing could be simpler! A square or a rectangle for the front, another for the back, plus two rectangles for the sleeves, all quite large, sewn together... and a simple oversized sweater is ready. I think it's needless to add that by using fine yarns, even if simple, your sweater will be more appreciated. Simple oversized sweaters are easy to personalize. Here are some ideas: 1. The simplest personalization is, without a doubt, the choice of two or more colors to combine, perhaps together with stitches such as: stockinette stitch, rice stitch, various ribs. 2. Applications of sequins, beads, and embroidery. In this case, you can work with very simple stitches like stockinette stitch and, once the sweater is made, you can have fun applying whatever you like and inspires you.       3. Braids and three-dimensional details will be in fashion. This is good news for those who love braids. Experienced knitters can create more complex braids, while beginners can create simple, classic ones. 4. The third idea on how to personalize simple sweaters has to do with the use of fine machine yarns, therefore thin ones. On the Hircus Filati website, you will find many of them. By working with 2, 3, 4, 5 or more plies, using multiple colors, you can create very original patterns. In the photo below you can see the samples, the tests I made while designing a new sweater. I used 3 plies of cashmere Nm. 2/13, in 3 colors: brown, light green and dark green. Sample 1: 1 ply for each color (light green, dark green and brown)           Sample 2: 2 plies of light green + one ply of dark green and, on top, 2 plies of light green + 1 ply of brown           Sample 3: a pattern always made with 3 plies, but in different compositions. I assure you that by working with multiple plies of machine cashmere, you will achieve incredible softness. And I remind you that all machine yarns are untreated (unwashed), so to calculate the stitches it is necessary to wash the sample first. A little tip: If you like three-dimensional stitches, work with multiple plies of the same color. If you prefer simple stitches, such as stockinette stitch, use multiple plies and multiple colors.   That's all for today. Now have fun creating your yarns with multiple plies of machine cashmere.
