Yarn Paraffining
Paraffin (also called "wax") is applied during yarn winding and allows for greater slippage of the yarn during knitting machine processing, making the yarn easier to work with and preventing breakages so as not to compromise the success of the knitting process.
After 20 days from delivery, the paraffin begins to degrade, leading to a deterioration in yarn smoothness. After this period, the yarn must undergo new paraffining. The re-paraffining operation by means of new winding requires specific machinery and particular care. It is advisable to re-paraffin the yarn at low speed immediately before knitting.
It is advisable NEVER to work with cones of re-paraffined or re-wound yarn together with original cones.
