How to make neck warmers and gauntlets
How to make a neck warmer and mitts
Winter is coming. In a few weeks we'll need gloves and scarves and... mitts and a neck warmer could be useful. Today I want to show you these two accessories, made with soft
cashmere, knitted with 5 needles (mitts) and circular needles (neck warmer).

The neck warmer you see next to it was made with 4.5 mm circular needles (the length of the plastic cord connecting the two needles, 35 cm, will facilitate the smooth movement of the stitches).
Cast on 88 stitches and knit in the round.
Rows 1-4: all knit stitches;
Rows 5-8: all purl stitches.
Repeat these two rows until you reach the desired neck height (in my case, another 9 times). Then continue the knit and purl stripes by adding increases.
Preparation for increases
Mark 2 stitches with a colored thread, skip 9, and again mark 2 stitches. Continue in this way until the end of the round. You will have 8 groups of 2 stitches marked with colored thread, separated by 9 unmarked stitches.
How to make increases
There are several methods:
1) you can cast on a stitch with the yarn from the ball;
2) you can make a yarn over and knit it through the back loop after reaching it in the next round;
3) you can put the transverse strand between the stitches of the previous round onto the left needle and knit it through the back loop.
Choose the method you prefer.
Distribution of increases
Make an increase every 4 rounds, before and after each group of 2 stitches (in each increase round you will have 16 more stitches).
Work another 8 stripes (4 with knit stitches and 4 with purl stitches), distributing the increases in the first round of each stripe.
Bind off stitches.
Mitts

To make the mitts, you will need 5 double-pointed 3 mm needles.
Cast on 36 stitches and knit in the round, distributing them over 4 needles (9 stitches per needle). Make the cuff consisting of 4 knit stripes and 4 purl stripes. Continue with 8 rounds of knit stitches.
To make the thumb, you need to make increases every two rounds. Mark one stitch with a colored thread and make an increase before and after the marked stitch (you will have 38 stitches). Continue making increases every two rounds, before and after the increases below, until you have 52 stitches (35 initial + 17 for the gusset). Leave the 17 thumb stitches on hold and knit only the 35 in the round (6 knit rounds and 4 purl rounds). Bind off stitches. Pick up the 17 thumb stitches and distribute them over 3 needles. With the 4th needle, knit 4 purl rounds in the round. Bind off stitches.
Make the other mitt following the same instructions.
